Agneepath (2012) Songs Lyrics
Agneepath is a 2012 Hindi-language action crime drama directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar and Hiroo Yash Johar under Dharma Productions. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt and Rishi Kapoor in the lead roles, with Om Puri and Zarina Wahab in important supporting roles. It is a remake of the 1990 Hindi film Agneepath, while retaining the central theme of revenge and redemption.
The story follows Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, played by Hrithik Roshan, whose life is destroyed after his respected father is falsely framed and murdered by the ruthless criminal Kancha Cheena, played by Sanjay Dutt. Vijay leaves his village of Mandwa with his mother and grows up in Mumbai with a single goal: to avenge his father's death and restore his family's honour.
In Mumbai, Vijay comes under the influence of gangster Rauf Lala, played by Rishi Kapoor, and gradually rises through the criminal underworld. His journey brings him closer to Kancha while also affecting his relationships with his mother, sister and childhood friend Kaali, played by Priyanka Chopra. The film combines intense action, family emotions, crime and revenge.
About the Movie Agneepath (2012)
Agneepath was released on 26 January 2012 and marked Karan Malhotra's directorial debut. The film was produced by Dharma Productions and featured a large ensemble cast led by Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt and Rishi Kapoor.
The film is based on the story of the 1990 Agneepath, which starred Amitabh Bachchan in the role of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan. The 2012 version presents the story with a darker and more contemporary treatment, focusing strongly on Vijay's transformation from a young boy seeking justice into a powerful figure in Mumbai's underworld.
The music was composed by the acclaimed duo Ajay–Atul, while the lyrics were written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The soundtrack became particularly popular for songs such as “Chikni Chameli,” “Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin,” “Deva Shree Ganesha,” “O Saiyyan” and “Gun Gun Guna.” The film's intense performances, especially those of Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt, became major highlights.
The story ultimately brings Vijay and Kancha back to Mandwa, where Vijay confronts the man responsible for destroying his family. After a final and violent confrontation, Vijay succeeds in taking revenge, but the battle leaves him fatally wounded.
