About the Movie Dard Ka Rishta (1982)
Dard Ka Rishta is a socially relevant family drama that focuses on love, parenthood, sacrifice, medical research and the devastating impact of leukemia. After Ravi returns to India and becomes associated with Tata Memorial Hospital in Bombay, his daughter Khushbu is diagnosed with leukemia. The family then faces the difficult challenge of finding a suitable bone-marrow match that could save her life.
The film combines an emotional family story with an important message about cancer awareness and the need for medical research. Sunil Dutt's connection with the subject was deeply personal, as the film was made following the illness and death of his wife Nargis and was intended to draw attention to cancer-related issues.
