ABCD – Any Body Can Dance is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language dance drama film directed and choreographed by Remo D'Souza. The film stars Prabhu Deva in the lead role, along with Ganesh Acharya, Kay Kay Menon, Lauren Gottlieb, Dharmesh Yelande, Salman Yusuff Khan and Punit Pathak. It is widely regarded as one of the early major Indian films to bring a dance-focused story to the mainstream in 3D.
The story follows Vishnu, a highly respected dancer who is forced to leave the dance academy he helped establish after a conflict with his business partner. Disappointed and ready to leave Mumbai, Vishnu encounters a group of talented but untrained street dancers preparing for the annual Ganpati Dance Battle. He decides to mentor them and transform their raw talent into a disciplined dance team.
The film combines dance, friendship, rivalry, ambition and personal struggles. Its central theme is the belief that determination, teamwork and self-confidence can help people overcome difficult circumstances and achieve their dreams.
About the Movie ABCD: Any Body Can Dance (2013)
ABCD – Any Body Can Dance was directed and choreographed by Remo D'Souza and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur under UTV Spotboy. The screenplay was written by Tushar Hiranandani, while Remo D'Souza developed the story. The music was composed by Sachin–Jigar.
Prabhu Deva plays Vishnu, the experienced dancer and mentor who brings together a group of young dancers. Lauren Gottlieb plays Riya, while Dharmesh Yelande plays D, Salman Yusuff Khan plays Rocky, Ganesh Acharya plays Gopi and Kay Kay Menon portrays Jahangir Khan.
The film's soundtrack includes popular dance-oriented songs such as “Bezubaan,” “Shambhu Sutaya” and other energetic numbers that complement its dance sequences.
ABCD – Any Body Can Dance was released in India on 8 February 2013. It was released in both 2D and 3D and was also dubbed into other Indian languages.
The film became an important title in India's dance-film genre and was followed by the sequel ABCD 2, which was released in 2015.
