His entry into the Hindi film industry came through Roop Kumar Rathod, whom he met during a visit to Mumbai. Rathod introduced him to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who gave him an opportunity to write for the film Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin.
The title song “Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin”, released in 1991, became a major success and established Faaiz Anwar as a recognised Bollywood lyricist. According to biographical accounts, he wrote the song in a very short period after Mahesh Bhatt asked him to provide lyrics with emotional and poetic depth.
He subsequently wrote songs for successful films including Saajan, Imtihaan, Baaghi, Jab We Met, Dabangg and Rowdy Rathore. His work with composers such as Anu Malik, Sajid-Wajid, Nadeem-Shravan, Anand-Milind and others produced many popular songs.
One of his notable later successes was “Aaoge Jab Tum” from Jab We Met (2007). He also wrote “Tere Mast Mast Do Nain” for Dabangg (2010), a song that became one of his most recognised works.
