Swarg is a 1990 Hindi family drama directed by David Dhawan and produced by Nandu G. Tolani. The film stars Rajesh Khanna, Govinda, Juhi Chawla and Madhavi in the lead roles, with Paresh Rawal, Dilip Dhawan, Raja Bundela, Neena Gupta and Satish Kaushik in supporting roles. The music was composed by Anand–Milind, with lyrics by Sameer.
The story revolves around Sahabji, a wealthy businessman, and Krishna, his extremely loyal servant. When Sahabji's own brothers betray him and take control of his wealth and property, Krishna is separated from his master. After struggling in Mumbai and becoming successful, Krishna returns to restore Sahabji's lost dignity and teach the people who betrayed him an important lesson about loyalty and family.
The story begins with Sahabji, played by Rajesh Khanna, a wealthy businessman and respected head of his family. He lives in a magnificent mansion called Swarg with his wife Janki, sister Jyoti, and his two brothers Vicky and Ravi.
Sahabji is a successful and generous businessman who believes strongly in family values.
Among the people closest to him is his loyal servant Krishna, played by Govinda. Krishna does not treat Sahabji merely as his employer. He considers him like a father and remains completely devoted to him.
Sahabji eventually has a business dispute with the unscrupulous businessman Dhanraj, played by Paresh Rawal.
Dhanraj becomes determined to take revenge on Sahabji.
He joins forces with Sahabji's two brothers and begins plotting to take control of Sahabji's business empire and property.
The conspirators eventually cause a devastating fire at Sahabji's factory.
Using the situation to their advantage, they take control of the family business and the luxurious mansion.
Sahabji loses almost everything.
His personal tragedy becomes even greater when his wife dies, leaving him emotionally devastated.
Despite being betrayed by his brothers, Sahabji chooses to forgive them rather than seek revenge.
Meanwhile, Krishna is accused of wrongdoing and is eventually forced to leave the household.
Heartbroken but determined, Krishna travels to Mumbai.
There, he begins a completely new life.
He struggles to survive and works hard to establish himself.
Over time, Krishna becomes successful and eventually enters the film industry, achieving fame and financial prosperity.
However, he never forgets Sahabji.
Krishna's success does not make him arrogant or selfish. Instead, he remembers the man who treated him with love and respect when he was poor.
He eventually returns to confront the people who betrayed Sahabji.
Krishna discovers that Sahabji has become almost completely isolated and that the people who took his wealth have failed to appreciate what they received.
Krishna secretly works to restore Sahabji's position.
His actions gradually expose the selfishness and betrayal of Sahabji's brothers.
At the same time, Krishna's relationship with Jyoti, played by Juhi Chawla, becomes an important part of the story.
Sahabji ultimately recognizes Krishna's loyalty and approves Krishna and Jyoti's relationship.
The story ends with Krishna proving that true family is based not on blood or wealth but on love, loyalty and respect.
Swarg therefore presents a powerful emotional message: a loyal person who stands by you in difficult times can be more valuable than relatives who abandon you when circumstances change.
