Boss is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language action comedy-drama directed by Anthony D'Souza and written by Farhad-Sajid. The film stars Akshay Kumar in the title role, alongside Mithun Chakraborty, Ronit Roy, Shiv Panditt and Aditi Rao Hydari. The film is a remake of the 2010 Malayalam film Pokkiri Raja.

The story follows Suryakant "Surya" Shastri, popularly known as Boss, a fearless and kind-hearted man who has developed a reputation as a powerful fighter and businessman. His life changes when his younger brother Shiv becomes involved in trouble with a corrupt police officer. Boss is forced to return to his family and protect his brother while confronting powerful people who misuse their authority.

Boss combines action, comedy, family drama and romance in a commercial Bollywood entertainer. At the heart of the story is the complicated relationship between Satyakant Shastri, an honest schoolteacher played by Mithun Chakraborty, and his elder son Surya. Satyakant had disowned Surya years earlier after believing that his son had become involved in violence and crime.

Surya is eventually taken in by a powerful crime boss and earns the name Boss. Although he becomes known for his aggressive fighting skills, he is portrayed as someone who stands up for ordinary people and helps those facing injustice. Years later, his younger brother Shiv travels to Delhi and becomes involved with Ankita, played by Aditi Rao Hydari. Ankita is the sister of corrupt police officer Ayushman Thakur, portrayed by Ronit Roy.

When Shiv is targeted and his family is threatened, Satyakant turns to the son he once rejected for help. Boss returns to protect Shiv and confront Ayushman and the forces supporting him. The story therefore combines the central themes of family, brotherhood, redemption, justice and the bond between a father and son.

The film's music features several popular commercial tracks, with contributions from Meet Bros Anjjan, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Chirantan Bhatt and P. A. Deepak. Songs from the soundtrack include "Boss," "Party All Night," "Har Kisi Ko," "Hum Na Tode," and "Pitah Se Hai Naam Tera."

Boss was released worldwide on 16 October 2013, coinciding with Dussehra. The film received mixed reviews from critics but was designed as a large-scale masala entertainer featuring action sequences, comedy, romance, family emotions and music.
