Sajid Khan was an Indian actor and singer who became known in Indian cinema as a child artist and later gained international popularity as a young performer. He was the adopted son of legendary filmmaker Mehboob Khan and actress Sardar Akhtar. Sajid began his film career as the young Birju in the acclaimed Hindi film Mother India (1957).
After his appearance in Mother India, Sajid Khan continued acting in films including Son of India (1962). He later gained wider recognition through international projects, particularly the film and television series Maya, which brought him popularity in North America. He also worked in productions associated with the Philippines and the United Kingdom.

Sajid Khan was born on 28 December 1951 in Bombay, now Mumbai, Maharashtra. He grew up in difficult circumstances before being discovered by filmmaker Mehboob Khan, who adopted him and gave him the name Sajid Khan. His first major screen appearance came in Mother India, where he played the younger version of Sunil Dutt's character Birju.
As a young performer, Sajid developed a following beyond India and became a teen idol in parts of North America and the Philippines during the late 1960s and early 1970s. His international work included Maya and other film and television productions. He was also credited as a singer and performer, with music-related credits appearing alongside his acting career.
Some of his notable screen credits include Mother India (1957), Son of India (1962), Maya, Muqabla (1970), My Funny Girl (1971) and Savera (1972). His IMDb profile also records soundtrack/performance credits, including work associated with Maya.
Sajid eventually stepped away from the film business and later became involved in the jewellery business. He operated a jewellery company called Artistic.
Sajid Khan died on 22 December 2023 in Kayamkulam, Kerala, at the age of 71. Reports and biographical sources state that he had been battling cancer.
