Gopal Krishna presents the legendary story of Lord Krishna, beginning with his divine birth in Mathura. The kingdom is ruled by the cruel Kansa, who imprisons Devaki and Vasudeva and fears that their eighth child will become the cause of his downfall.
When Krishna is born, he is secretly taken away from Mathura and raised in Gokul by Nanda and Yashoda. As Krishna grows up, his extraordinary divine powers become evident. Kansa learns that Krishna is alive and sends various demons to destroy him, but Krishna defeats them one after another, including Putana and Kaliya.
The story eventually moves to Mathura when Kansa sends Akrura to bring Krishna back. Kansa attempts to defeat Krishna through various schemes, but his plans fail. The story culminates in the confrontation between Krishna and Kansa, with Krishna defeating the tyrant and bringing an end to his oppression.
The film combines devotion, mythology, fantasy and drama, presenting the familiar story of Krishna's divine mission in a colourful cinematic style. Ravindra Jain composed the music and also wrote the lyrics. The soundtrack includes devotional songs such as “Govinda Gopala,” “Neer Bharan Ka Karke Bahana,” “Koi Mat Jariyo Ri Mere Bhag” and “Aayo Phagun Hattheelo.”
